Feeds

With the Product Feed, products are updated in Spotler Activate. In Spotler Activate, product information can be imported via XML files, links or API Calls.

XML file

For updating products from an online file or Channable, you can use a XML file. The XML Feed is an XML file with products and their associated product fields. By importing the XML file periodically into Spotler Activate, products are updated.

API Calls
Through the backend, Spotler Activate can update products by: API calls.
Pixel products
In addition to uploading a feed, Spotler Activate also keeps track of when you send products in events on your website that are not present in your own feed. By changing the filter in the Product Catalog next to the search bar from "Feed products" to "Pixel products", you will see a list of these products and you can also filter in this. This will allow you to see if any products are missing from your feed, or if there are any discrepancies

Custom product fields

Product fields are fields of products in which product information is stored. The products stored in Spotler Activate can be found under the Products > Overview. Products will be removed from Spotler Activate if they are not part of the Product Feed for seven days.

By clicking on a product, you can view the product fields of the product. And it is possible to change the name of custom product fields. Please note that this field must then also be processed under this name in the Product Feed. It is not possible to delete custom product fields in Spotler Activate.

The following fields are mandatory to correctly save a product:

SKU/Product ID

The SKU is the unique identifier of the product. The SKU is a mandatory product field to store products in Spotler Activate.

In the events and product feed the name id is used for this field

Based on the SKU, Spotler Activate identifies the products that have been interacted with in the events. Attention: the product id in the events should correspond with the SKU of the products in Spotler Activate.

  • A profile triggers the following event:

  • Spotler Activate interprets the product id as '1'
  • Spotler Activate searches the database for the product with SKU '1'
  • When the product is present, Spotler Activate can make the link between the event and the product fields of product

Name
The product name is the name of the product. The name is a mandatory product field to save products in Spotler Activate.

Note: in the product feed the name title is used for this field.
URL

The product URL is the website link where the product is displayed. The URL is a mandatory product field to store products in Spotler Activate. Please note that in the product feed the name link is used for this field.

 

Create custom field

Custom data fields can be created as follows:

  • Click on New product custom field

  • A pop-up shows up:

    Enter the following settings:
    • Name: the name of the field (this field must also be processed in the Product Feed with this name)
    • Data type: the type of data in the field, for example Text, Number, Date.
