In this article, we describe two use cases with the product split node.
Back in Stock flow
When a product is out of stock, you can ask if the customer wants to be notified when a product is back in stock. In the product split you set the wait time, like 30 days in the example below. In the product criteria you can set the inventory for this product. Keep in mind that an inventory of 1 can be a single return and could so be sending 20 customers a notification when only 1 return has come back in. That is why you can also set the inventory as greater than or equal to 2, to be sure of a back order.
When there is 2 or more inventory imported in the product feed, the customers waiting on this criteria will go through in de node and you can send an email with the products from event.
If the 30 days are over and the product didn't come back in stock, you can also send alternatives. In the Product Set settings, select a few product attributes with the same value as the product. The product in the entry event will be the base of these filters. For example, send a recommended for you set with the same brand and category as the product they wanted to get notified for.
Keep in mind, that by default products that are not in the feed anymore, will be disabled and removed after 7 days. This means Activate will not ‘know’ which values the attributes had if they are removed. At your merchant setting you can prevent this removal. The products will still be disabled, but they will not be removed after 7 days.
Item on wishlist is on sale
When a customer puts an item on a wishlist, you might want to follow them up, once that item is on sale. This can also be done by a product split, and Activate knows two methods.
Price drop %
This is the calculated difference between entry price and price/sale_price. So when a customer puts something on their wishlist that already has 10% discount, you will only send an email when the discount is X% more than it was when they put it on their wishlist.
Discount %
This is the calculated difference between the feed’s price and sale_price. The % set is calculated based on the feed and ignores the price of the entry event. This means if the discount is already 10% and you set the discount at 10% the customer will go directly to the next node.
