Connector: Copernica

Implementing Copernica consists of creating the Copernica link, synchronizing profiles to Copernica, synchronizing newsletter content to Copernica and if necessary synchronizing realtime from Copernica.

By completing the full implementation, email addresses and newsletter consents will be synchronized once between Copernica and Spotler Activate. Also, profile fields from Spotler Activate will be synchronized to Copernica. After the link has been made, the following data will be synchronized:

  • Email addresses: New email addresses will be synchronized real-time between Spotler Activate and Copernica
  • Consent: Changes to newsletter consents will be synchronized in real time between Spotler Activate and Copernica
  • Profile fields: Through Spotler Activate audiences & journeys, profile fields are sent from Spotler Activate and stored in Copernica

When using Copernica, the backend purchase can be received through the link of Bookerz.

Activate Copernica connector

Go to Apps and select the Copernica connector. You will be redirected to your Copernica account (so make sure you are logged in). In Copernica the following screen will open:

Click 'Give access' and 'Confirm'. Next, go back to Spotler Activate, where you have to select the following:

  • Select the Copernica database you want Spotler Activate to synchronize data with
  • Select custom profile fields to be exported to Copernica

After saving, additional options will become visible. Select the Copernica field that contains the email address (in order to match Spotler Activate profiles with existing Copernica profiles). If a profile does not yet exist in Copernica, Spotler Activate will add the profile to the Copernica database.

For synchronizing consent: Select the Copernica field where the consent is stored, Spotler Activate will newsletter consent synchronize with this field. Define the values in Copernica for: unknown, subscribed and unsubcribed.

The connection is complete. Spotler Activate imports the existing email addresses and newsletter consent from Copernica once. Through the link, new email addresses and newsletter consent will be synchronized daily from Copernica to Spotler Activate.

Synchronise Activate Profiles and Audiences to Copernica

For synchronizing profiles from Spotler Activate to Copernica, you have to create an Advanced audience with the following rules:

Copernica 3.png

The profiles will be synchronized to Copernica based on the email address. The profiles that do not exist in Copernica yet will be created.

In the Audience Builder you can send other audiences to Copernica by selecting Copernica as Channel:

Copernica 10.png

For the profiles in the audience, Spotler Activate creates two subprofiles in Copernica:

  • Spotler Activate audiences: In the collection SQ_profiles Spotler Activate adds a subprofile. On this subprofile, the profile fields and audiences of the profile will be updated in Copernica.
  • Spotler Activate triggers: In this collection, Copernica subprofiles (among other things) will keep track of the changes in the audiences of the profile in Copernica.

Email hashing

For email hashing, the parameter EmailHash can be added to outgoing emails to increase the match rate.

Send triggers and productsets to Copernica

In the Journey Builder you can send triggers to Copernica using the Action Email. In the E-mail trigger there are two options:

Copernica 14.png

  1. Sending a trigger: In the 'Trigger' field you can attach a label to the trigger that will be used to send a subprofile to the 'SQ_triggers' collection in Copernica. Based on this label, you can set follow-up steps in Copernica. When profiles reach the email trigger and meet the conditions, Spotler Activate will add the label to the profiles in Copernica. In the field 'Products' you can select a product set. The products from this set will be sent along with the trigger to Copernica and can be used in the next steps.

  2. With the field 'Mail / template' you can directly trigger a template in Copernica. When profiles reach the email trigger and meet the conditions, Copernica will send the selected template to them. You can add a product set based on an RSS feed to the template.

Realtime synchronising

By setting up a webhook in Copernica, the following information will be synchronized to Spotler Activate in real time:

  • New email addresses in the Copernica database
  • Consent changes of email addresses in the Copernica database
  • Values saved in the subprofile SQ_profile. These include the standard fields and all custom_fields connected in the app.

Please note: the new Marketing Suite works with Webhooks. However these miss a crucial feature, which causes a bug with callback loops. Please delete Webhooks to Spotler Activate and set them up with the legacy Callback URL as described below.

Configure webhook

  1. Go to Apps > Copernica in Spotler Activate and copy the Webhook URL
  2. Go to the Copernica Publisher environment in the menu on the left hand
  3. Go to the database settings and select Callback URL

  4. Select the database with the subprofile data from Spotler Activate

  5. Click 'Add Callback URL'. Enter the following settings:

    • URL: Paste your Spotler Activate webhook here

    • Method: Select ‘JSON’

    • Action: All actions

    • Check the checkbox
